Well, it’s official. I’m leaving the world of Gopher-Man, Longback Guy, Barefoot Boss, and The Chinese Contingent. Yep, I’ve got a new job. I start in a couple of weeks. I have high hopes that this gig will be a better fit for me than the last one was, though based on the many comments I have received about my Gopher-Man stories, I realize this may be something of a disappointment to many of you. I’m sorry about that, but I hope to find new characters for you when I begin my next adventure in the world of software (this time I’ll be back in the world of Marketing again, too, which holds a lot of promise for ridiculous work related stories). I will be commuting into the city again, which should translate into many fun-filled tales of crazy BART interactions or observations, but until then, I leave you with a couple entries from my Blog Spam folder for entertainment.
Comment #1:
“I expect that what you say is true, but which one of us can understand all these changes these days”
Comment #2:
“At the same time my two brothers prayed to Mary, cited saints and periodically wandered into very odd doctrines indeed.”
Enough said…
Congratulations on your new job, EBW! As much as I’ve enjoyed Gopher-Man, et al, I’m not worried. The delights of your posts aren’t about the characters themselves, but your skills in introducing us to them. I look forward to getting to know new people through your clever eyes!
Wow, thanks for the kind comments! I’m sure I will have plenty of new characters to introduce, and hopefully, more time to spend on the blog and other writing. Thanks again!
Oh, I must admit to being gutted that we will no longer find out what Gopher-man is up to, but can only feel relieved for you that you don’t have to be around him anymore! Best of luck with your new job.
It was slowly killing me inside, so I have to say I’m glad, too. I may post one final entry about him just to try to tie up loose ends. 🙂
Nooooo! Say it isn’t so. Well, I guess we have new adventures waiting for us, don’t we? Because, you know there are going to be some crazy peeps at your new job.
Every time I read your posts I think you and my daughter should totally be friends. She’s a little quirky like you, which is a really good thing. And she lives in the Bay area and has many fun stories to tell me about Bart. Although, now that I think about it, she might be one of your fun-filled observations. 😉
Oh, wouldn’t that be hilarious?!
Congratulations on your new job. I have no doubt that you will find new characters! I have very much enjoyed reading about the exploits of Gopher-Man, Longback Guy and the others 🙂
New pespective = new characters…what a gold mine! A whole lot better than just standing on your head…
Change is good. Progression is good. Nothing energizes a writer more than an infusion of new energy. I’m sure even bolder adventures await.
